Each activity pack is filled with activities, crafts, and experiments to get your child observing, exploring, and learning, using nature as their guide. Choose one activity or complete the entire packet. Check back regularly for new themes.

  • Get a head start on your summer reading and learning with the Budding Botanist Notebook. How many challenges can you complete?
  • Stay up to date on current events with Newsela. The service is offering free access to its online articles for the remainder of the school year. With topics including science, social studies, history, engineering and current events, you are sure to find something for every learner in the family.
  • Explore dozens of lesson plans available online from Scholastic. Find something for everyone with cross-curricular lessons broken up by grade level.
  • Check out KidsGardening.org for garden projects and crafts, lesson plans, tips to help plan your spring garden, and more.
  • Create your own plant comic. Check out the American Public Gardens Association’s Plant Heroes page to get started.
  • Chat with a real scientist from your home with Skype a Scientist. Click the ‘Events’ tab to view pre-planned live group sessions, or click ‘For Families’ to be matched with a scientist that fits your interests!
  • Listen to unlimited stories with Audible. For as long as schools are closed, kids everywhere can instantly stream a collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids. All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.
  • It’s TIME to learn! For the remainder of the school year, TIME for Kids is offering a free digital library complete with four grade specific editions for students in grades K through 6.
  • Join Google Earth for a virtual tour and explore 31 incredible national parks, from sweeping views of the Grand Canyon, to the underground caves of Carlsbad Caverns.
