Tower Hill Botanic Garden will be offering a variety of fun, nature-centered, educational activities for children of all ages – and all those who are young at heart – during February School Vacation. Activities, which coincide with Tower Hill’s signature event Winter In Bloom: A Month of Flowers, begin Saturday, Feb. 13, and run through Sunday, Feb. 21.

On each day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. families can participate in scavenger hunts, read along with story walks, inspect floral ice sculptures, visit the organization’s two large conservatories filled with subtropical plants, and much more. On the weekends, it will feel like spring during the Winter In Bloom flower exhibits with colors and fragrances that offer a much-needed escape from winter.

Crafts geared specifically toward children are available each day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Story time happens from 11:30 a.m. to noon each weekday. Special free with admission activities include a Winter Tracking Walk at 1 p.m. on Feb. 13 and Happy Valentine’s Day Mother Nature at 1 p.m. on Feb. 14. Classes visitors register and pay a small fee for include Let Worms Eat Your Garbage at 1 p.m. on Feb. 16, Make a Mini Terrarium at 1 p.m. on Feb. 17, and Plantable Handmade Seed Paper at 1 p.m. on Feb. 18.

If the weather is not too cold, visitors often enjoy winter hikes throughout Tower Hill’s gardens and woodland paths. And if snow blankets the region, snow shoes and sleds are a welcome way to see Tower Hill in its winter wonderland state.
