Vance Gilbert, a Philadelphia born multi-cultural arts teacher and jazz singer, burst onto the Boston scene in the early 90’s. Gilbert took audiences across the country by storm and has not stopped since. Gilbert went on to record, earning fans from the jazz, folk and adult contemporary arenas. He has played and recorded with legends including Tuck and Patti, Jonatha Brooke, Patty Larkin, and Vinx and Jance Siberry.

Enjoy the charming, whimsical paintings of renowned water color artist Sarah Lynn Richards. Richards will be showing works inspired by the flora and fauna of the Garden. Her watercolor florals compliment the gardens in full bloom. Richards is regarded as the most prominent equine artist in the country.

Trustees Plan Gala Celebration in Tribute to
John W. Trexler's 25 Years of Service to WCHS

The year 2009 marks the 25th year of John W. Trexler’s tenure as Executive Director of the Worcester County Horticultural Society. Trustees, staff, and the greater Worcester Community will be honoring his achievements with two special events: a gala Trexler Tribute dinner on Saturday, September 19th, and a Director’s Open House on Sunday, September 20th.

The Trexler Tribute dinner will acknowledge John’s wide-ranging interests with an international theme and menu by Pepper’s Fine Foods Catering. Tickets are $250 per person. Proceeds will endow the Director’s Chair at Tower Hill, ensuring the ongoing level of excellence this crucial position requires. The Director’s Open House will showcase every aspect of Tower Hill, with fun activities for all ages, tours, demos on organic gardening and “Slow Food” cooking, wildlife exhibits, videos, and a tree dedication. The event is free and open to the public.

Event corporate and leadership sponsorships based on botanical themes are available at three levels: a “Silverbell” Sponsor at $10,000; “Tulip Tree” Sponsor, $5,000; and “Sweetgum” Sponsor, $1,000.
