The Cottage Garden 2016-10-23T19:09:09+00:00

The Cottage Garden was the first garden developed at Tower Hill Botanic Garden and incorporates a variety of trees, shrubs, bulbs, herbaceous perennials, annuals and ornamental grasses for shade, sun and moist and dry conditions. Some plants, such as peony, bearded iris, daylily and a double-flowered narcissus, were preserved from the yard of the original farmhouse and included in the design of the new garden.

This garden emphasizes color combinations, beginning with the appearance of bulbs in the early spring, through perennials and annuals in summer, to plant structure and form in autumn and early winter. The intimate scale of the Cottage Garden makes it especially appealing to homeowners looking for gardening inspiration.
