Don't just grow your vegetables (and flowers), SHOW them! Participate in the Flower & Vegetable Show! Bring the best of your harvest to Tower Hill--potatoes, tomatoes, beans, flowers, and more. Cash prizes awarded for the best entries. Download the forms at left for complete details, or attend a free, special orientation "How to Win Blue Ribbons at the Flower & Vegetable Show" on Saturday, August 18th, at 1pm at Tower Hill.

What sorts of things can be entered? Download the Vegetable Show Premiums List at left for a complete listing, but as an example:

-An attractive collection of vegetables in a basket
-A bunch of broccoli
-A Red Cabbage
-3 Ears of Sweet Corn
-3 Specimens of Green Sweet Peppers
-Any other vegetable
-Flower Arrangements
-3 Stems of Salvia
-3 Stems of Sunflowers

If you don't have a green thumb - don't fret - just come and see the show and admire the best flowers and vegetables from amateur gardeners throughout the region.

The legendary Roger Swain, former host of the WGBH Victory Garden and science editor for Horticulture Magazine, and author of several books, will share his expertise on growing vegetables in the front yard! Swain will inspire and entertain participants while he shares his vast knowledge of the art and science of gardening. His tips and common-sense approach flow from him like and avalanche, so guests should be prepared to take notes. A special reception with Swain in the historic Farmhouse will follow the lecture and will include light refreshments, including a tasting of vegetables from Tower Hill's own vegetable garden!
